Dedicated to the St. Gabriel School Junior High Band – Concord Township, OH and to the Northeast Ohio MusicAlliance Eastside Summer Honors Band
Johnnycake Trail pays homage to the adventurous spirit and determination of the early American pioneers who left New England blazing a trail westward. Johnnycake refers to a simple flat bread made of cornmeal which kept well on the pioneers’ long journey. The lyrical middle section of the piece musically depicts the beauty of the landscapes that the settlers encountered.
