Toccata in Dance Rhythm
Toccata in Dance Rhythm
Palmer, Robert
Toccata in Dance Rhythm is an exploration of polyrhythm and color in the band/wind ensemble medium. Multiple overlapping layers of sound are employed in a way that is suggestive at times of jazz or African rhythms. A contrasting middle section highlights soloists and the lyrical potential of the ensemble, and leads to a fast and energetic conclusion.
