Medieval Fayre
Program Notes The Middle Ages was generally considered to be the period from 1066 to 1485. A fair (often spelt “fayre” in the 15th to 17th centuries) was an important part of life, functioning as a place for people to buy and sell goods, as well as being a meeting place and form of entertainment. Many medieval fairs were held annually to mark the “feast day” of a patron saint to whom a particular church had been dedicated. |
