Fanfare and Processional

Program Notes
Originally written for the composer's school band, this work is based on a five note motif which first appears in the trumpets at [15] and [16]. The motif was taken from a logo designed, for the band's casual windcheater uniform, by one of the band members.

Fanfare and Processional opens dramatically with unison trumpets and percussion. It quickly builds with intensity as the low brass enter and the woodwinds join in with a flourish. After the fanfare a majestic and dignified melody is introduced by the clarinets. The characteristic strength of the music continues to grow until the final climax is reached.
