Program Notes
This march was written to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the Kelvin Grove State School, recently integrated with the Kelvin Grove High School to form Kelvin Grove State College. The work is in celebration of the pioneering spirit of those who founded the school, then on the margins of the unexplored bushland that surrounded the fledgling city of Brisbane. It is fitting that the march uses as its first theme, The Ballad of Cobb and Co, written by T. Berriman and E. Samuels. The trio is a processional reminiscent of Holst and Elgar.
