Bushdance was written for and premiered at the Queensland Department of Education's 1987 Musically Outstanding Student (MOST) scholarship camp in Brisbane.
The work was written to feature the songs of the bushdance and to portray the excitement of the trip to and participation in the evening's entertainment.
Melodies include "The Darvy Knick Knack", "The Waves or Tory", "Big Fairy Mountain and Little Fairy Mountain" and finally, "Soldier's Joy".
