Program Notes
Nearly every Australian primary school student would have sung the tune upon which this arrangment is based. All about a kookaburra in "an old gum tree", is is written as a "patrol" beginning with a distant "pizzicato style" pulse building to a rousing middle section which fades to a distant drum beat again with the kookaburra having the last laugh.

The original melody "Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gum Tree" was written by Marion Sinclar for the World Guiding Jamboree.
