Program Notes
The Iron Gate was commissioned in 1993 by the Hedland Senior School Arts Foundation for the inaugural interstate tour of the Hedland Senior High School Concert Band. The work is programmatic and is written to depic the sparse, rugged iron-ore country and the port and industrial centre of Port Hedland which is arguable Australia's "Iron Gate" to the world.
