Program Notes
Written for the opening of the Pacific Schools Games in Brisane in September 1982, this work was, for a short time, retitled "The America's Cup March" in honour of our winning o the America's Cup in 1983.
The march uses Waltzing Matilda's 16 bar melody, but is built substantially around melodic, harmonic and rhythmic ideas designed to portray the pride and sense of honour at the achievements by Australians.
