Program Notes
Scherzino Sinfonica was commissioned by the Extra Curricular Activities Branch of Ministry of Education for the 1997 Singapore Youth Festival.
The composer's intention was to produce a short symphonic work that would allow the most outstanding of Singapore's fine school bands to display their superb technique and musicianship.
The work has reflections of the Scherzo from the composer's Symphony for Wind Orchestra and is respectfully dedicated to the conductors and bands in Singapore and in particular the members of the Singapore Band Directors Association.
