Caterpillar Holiday introduces students to a style of playing that is aurally appealing and familiar yet technically different from the standard string repertoire. Focusing on keeping the key and the dynamics very straight forward enables the students to really enjoy the rhythmic challenge of mastering the “swing” feel.

Creating musical scenes depicting the students' own version of 'lazing caterpillars enjoy some time out' will add to the overall enjoyment of the learning experience and help overcome any technical problems they may encounter with the swing rhythm.

This piece includes an optional 3rd Violin part.
