Program Notes
In form, this work is loosely based around the fugue and has a distinctly baroque character. After a slow introduction, the fugal theme is presented by each section of the string orchestra. It then works its way through a series of developments to conclude with a delightfully predictable tierce de picardie. Technically, all parts require players of a medium level of ability. This is a wonderful work for developing cohesiveness and awareness of the potential for the interplay between sections with a string ensemble.
