Using melodic fragments and motives from the spirituals "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot" and "Ev'ry Time I Feel the Spirit," David Gillingham has crafted a delightful 3-movement work for oboe and marimba quartet. The oboe part is also playable on a B-flat clarinet.
